US cybersecurity company CrowdStrike is in advanced negotiations to acquire Israeli startup Orion Security for approximately $500 million. According to Calcalist, the proposed deal remains under discussion and has not been finalised.

Founded in 2024, Orion develops an artificial intelligence-powered platform that protects sensitive corporate data. The company’s technology analyses how information moves within organisations to identify potential security threats.

Orion has raised $38 million since its founding, including a $32 million Series A round in February 2026. Meanwhile, the proposed acquisition would extend CrowdStrike’s cybersecurity portfolio and continue its investment in Israeli technology companies.

CrowdStrike Orion acquisition targets AI-powered data security

Orion aims to modernise traditional data loss prevention (DLP) systems through artificial intelligence. Conventional DLP tools rely on predefined security policies to prevent sensitive information from leaving an organisation.

However, these systems often require extensive manual configuration and continuous maintenance. They can also generate false-positive alerts while missing potential data leaks.

Orion instead uses specialised AI agents to monitor data movement continuously. Its platform assesses the context surrounding each activity rather than relying primarily on fixed rules.

The technology considers several factors, including information sensitivity, data history and user identity. It also evaluates the intent and purpose behind an action.

According to the company, this approach can identify and prevent potential data leaks before they occur. Additionally, Orion says its technology can reduce false positives and detect incidents that conventional DLP tools might miss.

The proposed CrowdStrike Orion acquisition could therefore strengthen the buyer’s data security capabilities. However, neither the completion of the deal nor the final transaction value has been confirmed in the supplied report.

Orion raised $38 million from investors

Orion secured $32 million in a Series A funding round announced in February 2026. Norwest Venture Partners led the round, with participation from IBM and existing investors PICO Venture Partners and Lama Partners.

The funding brought Orion’s total capital raised to $38 million. The company previously secured $6 million in seed funding, announced in March 2025.

Orion was founded in 2024 and operates in Israel and New York. The startup employs approximately 20 people, according to Calcalist.

Its leadership includes CEO Nitay Milner, a former product leader at Epsagon, which Cisco acquired. CTO Jonathan Kreiner previously headed application security at WalkMe.

The company’s relatively recent founding and specialised AI technology have placed it within the evolving corporate data security market. Meanwhile, its reported $500 million valuation in the potential deal highlights the scale of the proposed transaction.

CrowdStrike expands Israeli cybersecurity acquisitions

The reported Orion negotiations follow several acquisitions through which CrowdStrike has expanded its security platform. The company has pursued technologies spanning browser security, software-as-a-service protection and application security.

Its acquisition activity in Israel includes the following transactions:

CompanyReported deal valueTechnology focus
Seraphic SecurityApproximately $400 millionBrowser security
Adaptive ShieldApproximately $300 millionSaaS security and identity protection
Flow Security$200 million–$220 millionData security
BionicApproximately $350 millionApplication security
XM Cyber technology and intellectual propertyUndisclosed in the reportCybersecurity technology and patents

Note: The values above reflect estimates reported by Calcalist, rather than independently confirmed final transaction values.

In January 2026, CrowdStrike agreed to acquire Israeli browser security startup Seraphic Security. Its technology integrates security capabilities directly into browsers and web applications.

Earlier, CrowdStrike agreed to acquire Adaptive Shield in November 2024. The transaction added capabilities for protecting enterprise SaaS applications and identities.

The company also acquired Flow Security in 2024 for a reported $200 million to $220 million. That acquisition strengthened its data security portfolio.

In September 2023, CrowdStrike acquired Bionic for approximately $350 million. The transaction expanded its application security capabilities.

XM Cyber technology deal adds to expansion strategy

CrowdStrike also agreed in July 2026 to acquire technology assets from Israeli cybersecurity company XM Cyber. The agreement covers its technology, source code and more than 45 patents.

The transaction concerns XM Cyber’s intellectual property rather than its operating business. Germany’s Schwarz Group had acquired XM Cyber for $700 million in 2021.

The proposed Orion transaction would add another AI-focused data security capability to CrowdStrike’s portfolio. However, the negotiations remain ongoing, and further details about the potential agreement have not been disclosed.

If completed, the deal would mark another significant acquisition involving an Israeli cybersecurity startup. It would also reinforce CrowdStrike’s reported strategy of expanding its security capabilities through specialised technology acquisitions.
