The unsafe buildings in Gurugram identified by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) total 87, with show-cause notices issued to the owners of 66 structures, officials said on Thursday.

The civic body will initiate further action, including demolition, after completing the mandatory procedures, an official said.

MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the corporation was identifying hazardous structures within its jurisdiction and taking necessary action under prescribed rules. Further steps will follow after completing formal procedures, including issuing notices to owners.

MCG identifies unsafe buildings across six zones

According to an MCG survey, the 87 unsafe buildings are spread across six zones in Gurugram.

  • Zone 1: 35 buildings
  • Zone 2: 4 buildings
  • Zone 3: 12 buildings
  • Zone 4: 9 buildings
  • Zone 5: 18 buildings
  • Zone 6: 9 buildings

Zone 1 accounted for the highest number of unsafe structures, followed by Zone 5.

The corporation has issued notices to 66 building owners, while the process of serving notices to the remaining 21 owners is underway.

Demolition action to follow mandatory procedures

MCG said its action aims to address risks posed by hazardous buildings while ensuring compliance with the prescribed rules.

The civic body will take further steps only after completing the required procedures, including formal notices to the owners concerned.

The identification drive forms part of the corporation’s efforts to address unsafe structures within its limits. Any subsequent action, including demolition, will be undertaken after the mandatory process is completed.
