Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching ₹3,700 crore highway projects across Tamil Nadu during an official visit to Chennai on Sunday, October 11. Specifically, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil multi-sector development initiatives exceeding ₹13,000 crore, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Saturday. Furthermore, the massive infrastructure package strengthens regional road connectivity, port capacity, railway networks, and urban transit systems.

Major national highway corridors set for inauguration and foundation laying

Specifically, the highway component includes inaugurating the 36-kilometre, four-lane Vadugapatti–Therkuvenganallur section of NH-744 to boost commercial transit. Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate the 30-kilometre, four-lane Madurai Ring Road stretch on NH-744A to ease city congestion.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the four-lane Thiruvarur Bypass project on NH-83. Consequently, these road investments will significantly improve access across key industrial, agricultural, and pilgrimage centers in Tamil Nadu.

Following the highway launches, PM Modi will inaugurate the ₹4,900-crore Poonamallee–Vadapalani stretch of Chennai Metro Phase II. Specifically, the line features a 3.7-kilometre double-decker structure equipped with driverless signaling technology.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inspect port expansion works across Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port, and VO Chidambaranar Port. Furthermore, he will launch CPCL’s ₹1,620-crore lubricant project at Manali and dedicate the IIT Madras Brain Centre.
