An Ajnara Homes lift malfunction traps 14 residents in Greater Noida West during a severe elevator breakdown on Monday evening. The passenger elevator inside Tower M suddenly stalled between floors while carrying five children, three women, and senior citizens. Consequently, passengers remained trapped inside the stuck elevator car for nearly 20 terrifying minutes before help arrived.
Critical emergency intercom and security alarm systems fail completely
Furthermore, trapped residents attempted to call for help using the internal elevator emergency systems immediately after the jolt. However, both the emergency intercom and the security alarm failed to function during the crisis.
Additionally, children inside the confined lift experienced breathing difficulties and panic while waiting for rescue teams. Nearby residents finally alerted maintenance staff after hearing the frightened children screaming and pounding on the elevator doors.

Neglected maintenance leaves 1,000-resident tower dependent on single lift
Meanwhile, society residents expressed deep outrage over chronic maintenance delays and safety oversights across the complex. Resident Dinkar Pandey alleged that management failed to complete mandatory elevator registrations and regular technical servicing.
Therefore, building infrastructure collapsed under heavy evening load because two of the tower’s three lifts were out of service. Specifically, the service lift remained broken since morning while the second passenger lift failed by afternoon. Thus, the entire high-rise tower relied on a single operational elevator, triggering the dangerous evening breakdown.
