Gujarat government has revised classification of 268 talukas across 34 districts under its new “Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy-2026”. Specifically, the state Industries and Mines Department announced the updated regional framework on Sunday, October 11. Furthermore, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel guided the strategic initiative to drive industrial investment into under-developed areas.
Category A and B breakdown guides investor incentives
Under the updated framework, the government placed 130 talukas in Category A and 138 in Category B. Consequently, this categorization helps entrepreneurs identify specific subsidies and financial incentives for setting up new factories.
Additionally, the exercise accounts for newly created talukas and the updated industrial policy guidelines. Meanwhile, access to state incentives remains subject to specific eligibility rules and conditions under each scheme.

Focus on green industrial parks and sustainable manufacturing
Furthermore, the five-year industrial policy places strong emphasis on supporting MSMEs, startups, and women entrepreneurs. Specifically, it encourages green industrial parks, circular economy practices, wastewater recycling, and cleaner production technologies.
Additionally, the flexible incentive structure covers large, mega, and ultra-mega manufacturing projects based on location. Therefore, as Gujarat revises classification of 268 talukas, the state establishes a clearer roadmap for balanced economic development.
