PM GatiShakti monitors projects worth Rs 18.66 lakh crore involving 396 big-ticket infrastructure proposals across India, according to an official government factsheet released on Monday. Specifically, 256 of these mapped projects have received official sanction, with 198 currently undergoing active execution. Furthermore, the master plan leverages a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform to streamline inter-ministerial logistics planning.
Spatial data mapping connects economic nodes and logistics hubs
The GIS-based digital platform incorporates over 23,493 data layers across 58 Central Ministries and all 36 States and Union Territories. Consequently, planners can analyze spatial data, satellite imagery, and ecological factors before finalizing project alignments.
Additionally, the master plan integrates vital economic zones like pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, electronic parks, and agri-hubs into transport networks. Meanwhile, upgraded corridors like the Khagaria–Purnea route in Bihar now link five economic nodes and 11 logistics hubs directly.
| Master Plan Parameter | Operational & Geospatial Metrics |
| Total Monitored Outlay | 396 projects worth ₹18.66 lakh crore (as of August 11, 2026) |
| Sanctioned & Active Projects | 256 sanctioned projects, with 198 under active implementation |
| Geospatial Data Coverage | 23,493 data layers covering 58 Central Ministries & 36 States/UTs |
| Public Platform Datasets | 230 approved datasets for alignment planning and compliance |

Six guiding principles streamline land acquisition and approvals
Launched on October 13, 2021, the nationwide framework coordinates multimodal connectivity across seven core infrastructure engines. Specifically, these engines comprise roads, railways, ports, waterways, airports, mass transit, and logistics infrastructure.
Furthermore, the framework operates on six principles: integrated development, multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity, expedited land acquisition, minimized clearances, and reduced ecological impact. Therefore, as PM GatiShakti monitors projects worth Rs 18.66 lakh crore, cross-sectoral coordination continues reducing project delays and execution costs nationwide.
