State-owned defence and mobility enterprise BEML has officially invited a B28 high speed train tender to build a specialized test track at its Aditya plant in Bengaluru. Specifically, the contractor must complete the specialized railway facility within one year of handing over the agreement. Furthermore, engineers will utilize this dedicated track for initial vehicle testing, safety validation, and precise rolling stock calibration.

Indigenous manufacturing and international supplier network
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has recently inaugurated the Aditya Complex at BEML’s Bengaluru factory to manufacture India’s first indigenous high-speed trainsets. Specifically, BEML and Medha Servo Drives lead the execution, manufacturing, and systems integration under a contract awarded by ICF and NHSRCL. Additionally, Polish firm EC Engineering provides design consultancy, while BEML produces the carbody shells locally.
| Technical Parameter | B28 High-Speed Train Specifications |
| Maximum Design Speed | 280 km/h |
| Operational Speed | 250 km/h |
| Initial Seating Capacity | 8 coaches carrying 559 passengers |
| Prototype Rollout Target | March 2027 |
| Commercial Service Target | August 2027 (Mumbai–Ahmedabad Corridor) |
| Target Energy Efficiency | 0.034 kWh/Seat-km (SEC Target) |

Furthermore, the manufacturing consortium integrates major global component suppliers to guarantee world-class safety and reliability. Specifically, Siemens provides ETCS Level-2 signaling, Knorr-Bremse supplies braking and HVAC systems, and Compin Fainsa manufactures the passenger seating.
Energy testing and upcoming trial milestones
Additionally, the prototype will undergo rigorous Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) Type Tests along a 97-kilometre section between Vapi and Surat. Specifically, engineers will evaluate energy performance across four distinct loading categories to hit the targeted threshold of 0.034 kWh per seat-kilometre.

Consequently, trial runs will commence following the prototype rollout scheduled for March 2027. Therefore, as the B28 high speed train tender establishes vital domestic testing infrastructure, commercial operations remain on track for launch by August 2027.
