Consequently, Indian Railways steps up cleanliness on long distance trains to maintain hygiene across extended journeys. Officials identified 11 prominent long-distance trains traveling over 40 hours for mandatory en-route monitoring and enhanced upkeep.

Owning depots and divisional officers to monitor long-distance train hygiene

Furthermore, maintenance supervisors and Coaching Depot Officers will take direct responsibility for maintaining these identified long-distance trains. Zonal railway officers will review weekly passenger complaints, redressal times, and overall cleanliness records.

Additionally, the board integrated On-Board Housekeeping Services details with the Rail Madad platform to track contractor performance. Divisional Railway Managers will monitor these services closely while setting clear key performance indicators for depot supervisors.

Meanwhile, Clean Train Station points along each route will deploy plumbers, electricians, and maintenance staff for rapid repairs. Onboard staff will collect garbage every two hours from all coaches to keep train aisles clear.

Therefore, inspection teams will upload time-stamped photographs of toilets and coaches at originating, en-route, and destination stations. Owning depots must maintain spare rakes to ensure no deficient train enters active service.
