Vande Bharat Chair Car completes 180 kmph trial run on the high-speed Mathura–Nagda section, marking a major railway milestone. Specifically, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab, manufactured the new 16-coach trainset. Furthermore, the Ministry of Railways conducted the successful high-speed test under Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) supervision on October 8, 2026.
High-speed testing validates advanced propulsion and passenger safety
During the rigorous evaluation, railway safety officials assessed the trainset for high-speed performance, operational efficiency, and overall stability. Consequently, passing the CCRS inspection clears the path for commercial deployment across key intercity routes.
However, completing trials at 180 km/h does not mean immediate regular operations at that speed. Initially, the train will run between 130 km/h and 160 km/h before reaching 180 km/h capability.

RCF Kapurthala expands manufacturing capabilities and export reach
Additionally, the trainset features ergonomically designed reclining seats, panoramic windows, and zero-discharge bio-vacuum toilets. Specifically, smart air-conditioned coaches adjust temperature levels dynamically, while specialized toilets accommodate wheelchair-bound passengers smoothly.
Meanwhile, RCF Kapurthala recorded its highest-ever annual production of 2,383 coaches in FY 2025–26. Furthermore, the facility exports coaches to multiple Asian and African nations. Therefore, as Vande Bharat Chair Car completes 180 kmph trial milestones, RCF Kapurthala joins Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai in producing modern trainsets.
