When sudden personal expenses or urgent business needs arise, investors often face a tough choice: sell their hard-earned equity shares or mutual funds at an inopportune time, sacrificing future compounding and dividends. Bank of Baroda is shifting that narrative with its latest retail offering.
The public sector lender has officially rolled out bob PAL (Portfolio-backed Approved Limit), a digitally enabled overdraft facility designed to let account holders borrow money against their financial securities without breaking their investment stride.
How bob PAL Works for Everyday Investors
The core consumer benefit of bob PAL is flexibility combined with asset preservation. Instead of redeeming your investments, you simply pledge eligible assets—ranging from mutual funds and equity shares to bonds, debentures, and Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs).
High Borrowing Power: Customers can access credit lines starting from Rs 1 lakh all the way up to Rs 5 crore.
Seamless Digital Journey: For credit limits of up to Rs 1 crore, the entire onboarding and sanction process is handled digitally through the bob World mobile app, Internet Banking, or the bank’s official website.

Pay-Only-For-What-You-Use: Because it operates as an overdraft account, interest is calculated strictly on the precise amount you withdraw and utilize, rather than the entire sanctioned limit.
“Access to funds should not come at the cost of long-term wealth creation,” noted Shri Sanjay Mudaliar, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda. “bob PAL enables customers to unlock the value of their financial investments when they need funds, while continuing to remain invested.”
Keeping Wealth Creation Alive
For retail investors and savvy savers, the biggest advantage here is continuity. By choosing an overdraft against securities over a traditional personal loan, borrowers avoid hefty prepayment penalties, lock-in headaches, and the emotional regret of selling a performing stock early. Plus, you continue earning dividends, corporate actions, and bonus benefits uninterrupted.
With this rollout, Bank of Baroda is bridging the gap between immediate liquidity and long-term financial health, giving digital-first consumers a smarter way to manage short-term cash crunches.
