Delhi industrial infrastructure projects worth ₹170 crore have been launched to upgrade roads, improve drainage and address long-standing civic issues across nine industrial areas in the capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the projects at Rajasthani Udyog Nagar on Tuesday. The works include the construction and improvement of around 15 km of roads and the development of approximately 34 km of stormwater drainage systems.
The Delhi government said the projects aim to improve connectivity, reduce waterlogging and create better operating conditions for businesses.
Gupta said industrial development remained a government priority and assured that funding would not be a constraint for infrastructure upgrades. She added that the government intended to ensure that no industrial area in Delhi was left out of the development process.
Road and drainage upgrades across industrial areas
The projects cover industrial areas across the capital, including:
- Rajasthani Udyog Nagar
- GTK Udyog Nagar
- Naraina Industrial Area
- Lawrence Road
- Najafgarh (Rama Road)
- DLF Moti Nagar
- Nangloi Jat and S-Block
- Okhla Phase II
The Industries Department statement also referred to other industrial area locations covered by the initiative.
The planned road improvements are expected to strengthen access to industrial units, while the stormwater drainage works aim to address waterlogging and related disruptions.
Reliable roads and drainage infrastructure are important for industrial operations, particularly for the movement of goods, workers and commercial vehicles.
Delhi government targets long-standing infrastructure gaps
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said several industrial areas had faced infrastructure deficiencies for years.
He said inadequate development over the past 25 years had left multiple roads in poor condition, affecting the quality of infrastructure available to businesses.
The newly launched projects seek to address these gaps through targeted upgrades to roads and drainage systems.
The government has positioned the initiative as part of its broader effort to modernise industrial areas and improve facilities for businesses operating in Delhi.
The ₹170 crore programme combines road construction and improvement with stormwater drainage development. Its implementation will determine how effectively the identified industrial areas address existing connectivity and civic infrastructure challenges.
