India auto tech funding 2026 reached $1.3 billion across 97 funding rounds year-to-date, according to a report by data intelligence platform Tracxn.
The report, India Auto Tech – 2026 YTD, compared the latest figures with $2.1 billion raised across 195 rounds in 2025.
The report covers equity funding in US dollars and excludes debt, grants, post-IPO funding and initial coin offerings (ICOs).
Ride-hailing company Rapido led the funding activity with a $240 million round. Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy followed with $180 million, while electric mobility company River raised $102 million.
India auto tech funding led by large transactions
Large funding rounds accounted for most of the capital raised by India’s auto tech companies during the period.
According to Tracxn, 10 rounds of $34 million or more collectively raised $900 million. These transactions contributed around 70 per cent of the total $1.3 billion raised.
The remaining 87 rounds brought in approximately $400 million.
Later-stage funding accounted for $810 million during the period. Series C and subsequent funding rounds featured in eight of the 10 largest transactions, indicating the significant contribution of mature companies to overall funding activity.
The concentration of capital in a small number of large deals highlights the difference between total funding value and the number of transactions completed.
Sotefin leads IPO market capitalisation
Automated parking solutions provider Sotefin recorded the highest IPO market capitalisation among the companies listed in the report, at $35 million.
Electric vehicle company Victory EV India followed with $11 million, while automotive accessories company AutoFurnish recorded $6 million.
These figures represent IPO market capitalisation, a different measure from private funding raised through investment rounds.
Auto tech sector sees acquisitions in 2026
Mergers and acquisitions also featured in India’s auto tech sector during the period.
Used-vehicle retailer Cars24 acquired CarInfo for $44.4 million in January 2026. It subsequently acquired Vehicleinfo in March.
In other transactions, Roadzen acquired VehicleCare, while 91trucks acquired MotorFloor in March.
The acquisitions reflect continued consolidation across automotive technology and vehicle-related digital services. Alongside funding rounds, such transactions form part of the sector’s broader investment activity in 2026.
