Gaur Chowk underpass likely to open on Diwali on November 8, 2026, as the infrastructure project reaches 95% completion. Specifically, authority officials plan to announce the final inauguration date soon after finishing touches and artwork installations wrap up. Furthermore, the 700-metre six-lane underpass will streamline daily travel for over five lakh local residents navigating one of the busiest regional junctions.
Project specifications and regional connectivity benefits
The ₹92-crore infrastructure project runs parallel to the Taj Highway along a 60-metre-wide road corridor. Consequently, the six-lane structure establishes a direct, signal-free link connecting Greater Noida, Gaur City, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
Additionally, the 700-metre stretch features 350-metre ramps on either side of the intersection. Meanwhile, construction teams have completed road resurfacing alongside the underpass and constructed two new U-turns near Gaur Chowk.

Overcoming construction delays and welcoming commuter relief
Initial construction began in July 2024 with an eighteen-month target deadline. However, implementation faced setbacks due to stringent Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) restrictions and necessary daytime traffic curbs.
Despite previous delays, local residents have expressed immense relief regarding the upcoming launch.
Residents of Greater Noida West have welcomed the upcoming opening of the underpass, citing persistent traffic jams around Gaur Chowk during busy hours. Rajesh Yadav, a resident of Yakubpur, told Infrainsiders that crossing Gaur Chowk became difficult due to heavy traffic volumes. He stated, “Traffic restrictions near the junction slowed movement significantly, forcing us to avoid peak hours.” Furthermore, he noted that navigating the intersection previously required nearly twenty to thirty minutes.
Additionally, Anshul, a resident of Gaur City, told InfraInsiders, “We awaited this inauguration for a long time as peak morning and evening hours brought heavy gridlock.” Therefore, as the Gaur Chowk underpass likely to open on Diwali approaches, local commuters hope the project will effectively resolve regional traffic congestion.
