The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened the critical 9-km stretch connecting the DND Flyway to Jaitpur for trial runs. The new 6-lane elevated corridor gives commuters from East Delhi, South Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad a direct, signal-free entry to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

Project Context & What Lies Ahead
Initially conceptualized to run between Sohna and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) near Mumbai, the project was extended to the DND Flyway in 2018 to integrate Delhi directly into the corridor. During trial runs, NHAI safety teams will evaluate traffic patterns, signage visibility, and merging safety before launching formal tolling.
The corridor will extend its reach further when full connectivity up to Vadodara opens by December.
How It Connects Your Daily Route
Around 50 km of the 59-km Delhi spur is now fully operational across various phases. The new 9-km stretch seamlessly routes traffic through South Delhi to Haryana and beyond:
- Starting Point: Maharani Bagh / Ring Road interchange at the DND Flyway.
- Intermediary Route: Passes elevated over the Agra Canal and runs high above existing Metro lines (near Okhla Vihar and Kalindi Kunj).
- End Point: Connects to Jaitpur Pushta Road, linking seamlessly into the existing 24-km operational highway toward Sector 62/65 in Faridabad.
- Long-Distance Access: Provides continuous, uninterrupted high-speed travel toward the KMP Expressway, Jaipur (under 3 hours), Sawai Madhopur, and Vadodara.

- Bypasses Major Bottlenecks: Direct access from the DND Flyway diverts long-distance and intercity traffic away from notoriously jammed surface roads like Mathura Road, Sarita Vihar, and Ashram Chowk.

What’s Next for the Corridor?
- Vadodara Connection: At a recent progress review, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed that the main Delhi–Mumbai Expressway stretch up to Vadodara is targeted to be fully operational by December.
- Jewar Airport Link: Work is also ongoing on a 31.4-km direct spur connecting this corridor near Faridabad to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.
