India’s economic landscape is undergoing a massive decentralization. Speaking at the 20th Rozgar Mela where over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the nation’s startup narrative is no longer restricted to metropolitan hubs.
According to data highlighted during the address, nearly half of all recognized startups are now rooted in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Young innovators from smaller towns and rural pockets are actively building independent ventures, moving past conventional job-seeking mindsets to become major employment generators themselves.
Expanding Private Sector Opportunities and Schemes
To sustain this grassroots momentum, the government is aggressively pushing private sector job expansion. The newly launched Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, backed by an outlay of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, aims to bring around 2 crore youth into the formal workforce for the first time.
Under this scheme, first-time job seekers receive direct financial incentives of up to Rs 15,000. Simultaneously, employers expanding their payrolls receive structured government backing, creating an integrated ecosystem where small-town talent and private enterprise can thrive together.
A Call for Public Service and Continuous Learning
Addressing the newly inducted government recruits, PM Modi urged them to use their positions to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and ease the daily challenges faced by citizens. He noted that national progress is intrinsically tied to economic expansion, rising investments, and growth across emerging industries.
Encouraging lifelong professional growth, the Prime Minister pointed to the iGOT Karmayogi platform—which has already onboarded over 1.70 crore government employees—urging young civil servants to continuously upgrade their skills and master modern administrative technologies.
