Bharat first Bullet Train B28 features revealed as India takes a giant step toward indigenous high-speed rail engineering. Specifically, BEML Limited is manufacturing the state-of-the-art trainset at its Aditya Plant in Bengaluru for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. Furthermore, the project combines advanced technical capabilities with indigenous design to deliver top-tier speed, safety, and passenger comfort.
Advanced engineering specifications and high-speed performance metrics
The B28 high-speed trainset boasts a maximum test speed of 280 km/h and an operational speed capability of 249 km/h. Spanning approximately 202 metres in total length, the standard formation consists of eight cars configured into four motor cars and four trailer cars.
Additionally, each eight-car trainset accommodates roughly 557 passengers across standard and executive classes. Meanwhile, the modular design allows operators to couple two eight-car trainsets into a 16-car formation for future demand.

Ergonomic interiors, accessibility, and HVAC climate control
Interiors are tailor-made for Indian anthropometric requirements, providing ergonomic seats, wide view windows, and ambient LED lighting. Specifically, standard cars feature a 3×2 seating arrangement, while the executive car offers a spacious 2×2 layout.

Furthermore, the design integrates complete accessibility for Divyangjan passengers, including dedicated seating, accessible toilets, wide doors, and level boarding via retractable footsteps. Meanwhile, dual rooftop HVAC units per car manage temperature and humidity to ensure passenger comfort during intense summer heat.
Digital infotainment systems, noise reduction, and CFD aerodynamics
Travellers enjoy a Wi-Fi-based infotainment platform alongside multi-language LCD displays in English, Hindi, and regional languages. Additionally, passengers can contact train crew members immediately using emergency talk-back units installed in cabins and vestibules.
Engineers optimized the aerodynamic nose profile using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to reduce air resistance and sonic booms in tunnels. Therefore, as Bharat first Bullet Train B28 features revealed showcase regenerative braking and sound insulation, India accelerates toward high-speed rail self-reliance.
