National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) engineers successfully launched the first 100-metre steel bridge for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project over National Highway 3 in Maharashtra. Consequently, this milestone demonstrates India’s rapidly growing capabilities in heavy infrastructure development. Furthermore, teams installed the massive 1,405-tonne structure at Dive-Anjur village in Bhiwandi, Thane district.

Precision Engineering Powers Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project

Work crews fabricated the entire structure at a specialized workshop in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, heavy trailers transported the bridge components over 1,300 kilometres to the site in Maharashtra. Therefore, technicians performed rigorous Ultrasonic Testing on every steel batch to guarantee absolute safety. Additionally, international welding experts certified all supervisors and welders working on the components. This meticulous process directly supports the national Make in India vision for high-speed rail development.

Advanced Night Launch Minimises Highway Traffic Disruption

Assembly teams built the bridge on temporary trestles 17.5 metres above the ground. Specifically, workers secured the structure using 54,076 high-strength bolts and advanced elastomeric bearings. Meanwhile, automatic hydraulic jacks slowly pulled the bridge into its final alignment over the busy highway.

Engineers scheduled the critical launch during night-time traffic blocks to avoid highway congestion. Consequently, commuters experienced minimal delays during the complex pulling operation. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that 16 of the planned 28 steel bridges for the high-speed corridor are now fully complete across the route.
