Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal announced a massive ₹1-lakh crore investment drive across Odisha following a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday. The industrial conglomerate plans to expand its presence across aluminium, mining, refining, and downstream manufacturing over the next two-and-a-half to three years.

Industrial Operations Target Jharsuguda and Raigarh
The group plans to build a new refinery in Raigarh alongside a modern smelting unit. In Jharsuguda, Vedanta aims to establish a 2-million-tonne plant adjacent to its existing power facility.
The Jharsuguda expansion alone requires nearly 500 acres of land. Agarwal noted that project timelines will depend on rapid land allocation and official government clearances.

Local MSMEs and Social Infrastructure Drive Growth
Vedanta plans to supply raw aluminium and power directly to local small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This supply chain push targets component manufacturing for automobile, aviation, railway, and transport sectors.
Beyond heavy industrial expansion, Agarwal proposed significant investments in regional social infrastructure. The company plans to construct a digital university, a tribal healthcare center, and a research hospital focused on cancer treatment.
