Amit Shah launches Yamuna rejuvenation projects worth 8941 crore as part of a comprehensive roadmap to clean the river by 2029 through coordinated efforts across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. During the inauguration and foundation-stone laying ceremony in Delhi on October 22, 2026, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah stated that 40% of the action plan has already been completed since the formation of the current government. Furthermore, the mega-initiative includes 10 inaugurated projects and 33 newly initiated schemes designed to upgrade existing sewage treatment plants (STPs), install new infrastructure, and connect unserviced households to proper sewer lines.

Multi-state roadmap and clearing historical waste mountains

Addressing decades of untreated sewage discharge and industrial waste accumulation, the Home Minister emphasized that the Centre and state governments have established a time-bound inter-state framework. Specifically, this roadmap tackles pollution sources originating from upstream states and local dairy waste management across the National Capital Region.

Additionally, local urban transformation efforts under Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta have successfully cleared 2.17 crore metric tonnes of legacy waste from Okhla, Bhalswa, and Ghazipur. Consequently, these waste mountains have shrunk significantly, freeing 100 acres of prime land that will be converted into urban gardens within two years.

Criticizing opposition politics and addressing democratic mandates

Shifting focus to broader political developments, the Home Minister strongly criticized opposition parties for engaging in negative politics and raising false allegations regarding electronic voting machines and vote theft. Specifically, he noted that critics attempt to protect infiltrators by creating public hue and cry whenever democratic mandates favor governance continuity.

Furthermore, he highlighted the double standards of opposition leaders who praise the Election Commission and judicial verdicts when victorious in states like Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, or Tamil Nadu while rejecting systems upon electoral defeat. Therefore, as Amit Shah launches Yamuna rejuvenation projects worth 8941 crore, the administration remains firmly focused on delivering tangible infrastructural results rather than engaging in politics of excuses.
