Engineering and project delivery firm Electromech Infraprojects has announced its expansion into India’s rapidly growing semiconductor infrastructure sector. The company aims to apply its deep expertise in mission-critical environments, data centres, and industrial builds to cater to the ultra-precise facility requirements of semiconductor fabrication, OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test), ATMP, and allied electronics manufacturing units.
Electromech Infraprojects’s strategic expansion coincides with a massive acceleration in India’s already growing domestic tech and semiconductor ecosystem. According to official government data released by Press Information Bureau (PIB) data, the Government of India’s Semicon 1.0 programme has already approved 12 semiconductor manufacturing units with a cumulative investment exceeding Rs 1.64 lakh crore across states like Gujarat, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, with five units already commencing commercial production. Building on this foundation, the Union Cabinet rolled out Semicon 2.0 with a substantial outlay of Rs 1,27,500 crore to fortify the full-stack value chain, encompassing design, machines, materials, advanced packaging, R&D, and talent development.
Addressing the unique demands of these high-tech plants, Varun Maniar, Managing Director of Electromech Infraprojects, noted, “India’s semiconductor opportunity is no longer only about building fabs and assembly facilities; it is about creating the infrastructure ecosystem capable of supporting them to global standards. These facilities demand far greater precision in power quality, thermal management, environmental control and integrated engineering than conventional industrial projects.”
Backed by a track record of over 600 delivered projects and handling more than 350 MW of IT load, Electromech plans to leverage its over 2 lakh sq. ft. manufacturing footprint across Mumbai and Hyderabad. By combining BIM-led design coordination, prefabrication, and modularisation, the company aims to support the complex, precision-driven engineering demands of India’s next-generation semiconductor facilities.
