Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the South Zone Seva First Innovation Challenge (SFIC) at IISc Bengaluru today. He urged young citizens to blend innovation with ‘Seva’ to solve real-world problems.
During the launch, the Minister unveiled the official SFIC website and registration portal. He emphasized that practical innovation serves as a key pillar for achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Youth Power Driving National Educational Transformation
India holds a massive demographic advantage today. Nearly 65 percent of the country’s population remains under 35 years of age.
Minister Joshi highlighted how NEP 2020 promotes experiential learning and critical thinking across educational campuses. The government actively supports this transformation through several targeted national initiatives:
- Atal Tinkering Labs: Over 10,000 active labs foster early innovation in schools.
- Innovation Councils: More than 17,300 higher education institutions host active councils.
- National Hackathons: Programs like Smart India Hackathon drive student-led problem solving.
Five Key Themes Target Crucial Development Sectors
The Seva First Innovation Challenge covers five vital development themes across two distinct solution tracks:

Participants can enter through two distinct solution categories:
- Track A: Product or Technology Solutions.
- Track B: Business Model or Governance Solutions.
IISc Bengaluru to Lead Regional Mentorship Network
IISc Bengaluru will act as the South Zone Nodal Institute. The center will evaluate technical entries and guide participants across Southern states and Union Territories.
The top teams will advance directly to the National Finale in New Delhi this December.
