JIS Group launched its dedicated entrepreneurship incubation centre, “Made in JIS,” at its Austin Tower campus in New Town, Kolkata. The educational conglomerate unveiled the hub alongside the second edition of IdeaJam, its signature startup hackathon.
The facility connects students, founders, corporate leaders, incubators, and investors on a shared collaborative platform. It provides early ventures with mentorship, market access, and structured operational toolkits.

Empowering Next-Gen Founders
JIS Group aims to transform student innovations into viable, scalable commercial enterprises.
“The launch of the Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre reflects JIS’s vision of building a thriving innovation ecosystem where students and young founders are empowered with the right mentorship, exposure, and opportunities to create impactful ventures,” said Jaspreet Kaur, Director of JIS Group.
She stressed the importance of accessible, experiential learning that equips students to solve real-world problems.
D2C entrepreneur and V3 Ventures co-founder Arjun Vaidya joined the launch as chief guest. Vaidya linked campus-level entrepreneurship directly to the national Viksit Bharat 2047 development roadmap.
“The entrepreneurs who will build for 2047 are now graduating from college,” Vaidya said. “We have to enable them so they have the right set of skills and toolkit to work over the next 20-21 years.”
Tapping Tier 2 and Tier 3 Talent
Both Vaidya and Kaur emphasized the vast potential emerging outside primary metro cities. Vaidya noted that several top performers in his investment portfolio hail from outside India’s top 10 cities.
Kaur shared examples of students from regional hubs like Asansol and Mogra showing immense drive. Notably, one university pharmacy student built an AI startup that reached a ₹400 crore valuation.
“The placement cell is there to help with employment,” Kaur stated. “But if they want to become entrepreneurs, ‘Made in JIS’ is there.”
Structured Programmes and Matching Funds
The centre adopts a disciplined funding model. It provides seed money to build prototypes, but it avoids unconditional grants. When students secure external capital, the centre matches those investments.
| Programme Track | Core Objective | Key Target Audience |
| Pre-Incubation | Idea validation, startup basics, foundational mentorship | Aspiring student founders |
| Growth Track | Product-market fit, go-to-market execution, scale, fundraising | Early-stage operating startups |
| Corporate Innovation | Industry problem-solving, pilot rollouts, enterprise challenges | Corporate partners & innovators |
The centre will also host regular interactive sessions with active founders, institutional investors, and seasoned operators to deliver continuous, real-world industry learning.
