Ballabhgarh Palwal metro expansion project has been approved after Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini cleared the final project report on Thursday. Consequently, the state government forwarded the detailed project report (DPR) to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final clearance. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi announced the decision during the 66th board meeting of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC).
Elevated 28-km corridor to connect Ballabhgarh with Palwal
Specifically, the project extends the existing Delhi Metro Violet Line by nearly 28 kilometres as a fully elevated corridor. The extension starts at the Raja Nahar Singh station in Ballabhgarh, where the current Violet Line ends.
Furthermore, the new line terminates near the Palwal Mini Secretariat complex. The project carries an estimated construction cost of Rs 4,500 crore and will run under HMRTC management.

Rapid Metro Gurugram records 11.62 per cent passenger surge
Meanwhile, the board reviewed progress on the proposed 136.30-km Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Namo Bharat RRTS corridor. The regional rapid transit project requires an estimated investment of Rs 33,051 crore.
Additionally, HMRTC highlighted strong operational growth for Gurugram Rapid Metro between April and August 2026. Passenger ridership grew 11.62 per cent to 88.81 lakh passengers, up from 79.57 lakh during the previous year.
Consequently, operational revenue rose from Rs 16.66 crore to Rs 18.60 crore. Furthermore, non-fare box revenue recorded a significant 64.34 per cent growth. Thus, as the Ballabhgarh Palwal metro expansion approved process advances, daily commuters across Delhi, Faridabad, and Palwal will gain direct connectivity.
