Gujarat and Odisha are exploring industrial partnerships linking Odisha’s metals and minerals industries with Gujarat’s semiconductor, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing sectors ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027.
The discussions took place during a summit roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Government officials and industry representatives examined potential investments, technology partnerships and opportunities to strengthen business ties between the two states.
Gujarat Minister of State for Industries and MSMEs Jayram Gamit and Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department Secretary Lochan Sehra also held meetings with companies and institutions ahead of the roadshow.
The discussions aimed to identify areas where businesses and institutions in Odisha could collaborate with Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.
Gujarat Odisha industrial cooperation focuses on complementary strengths
Addressing the gathering, Gamit highlighted the complementary industrial capabilities of the two states.
Odisha has an established base in minerals, metals and aluminium, while Gujarat offers industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductor capabilities, renewable energy capacity and global connectivity.
Gamit said combining these strengths could create opportunities for innovation, employment and business development.
According to the Gujarat government, the state accounts for 17 per cent of India’s manufacturing output and 25 per cent of its merchandise exports.
The roadshow highlighted opportunities to connect Odisha’s industrial base with Gujarat’s semiconductor, advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors. Such linkages could help businesses explore partnerships across industrial value chains and strengthen inter-state supply chains.
Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 draws industry interest
The Bhubaneswar programme included a presentation on VGGS 2027 by Sehra and a screening showcasing Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem, textiles and renewable energy sector.
Industry representatives also shared their experiences and perspectives on business opportunities and industrial development.
The Gujarat government invited businesses, startups and industry institutions from Odisha to participate in the upcoming summit and explore potential partnerships.
The outreach is intended to expand engagement with businesses beyond Gujarat and encourage investment discussions across state boundaries.
Gujarat summit scheduled for January 2027
The 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled to take place in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, 2027.
The summit’s theme is “Viksit Gujarat: Shaping Global Future”.
The event will provide a platform for businesses and institutions to explore investment opportunities, technology partnerships and industrial cooperation.
The proposed links between Odisha’s metals and minerals base and Gujarat’s semiconductor, renewable energy and manufacturing sectors formed a key focus of the Bhubaneswar roadshow.
Specific investment commitments or project announcements were not detailed in the statement. The discussions instead centred on identifying areas for future cooperation and encouraging participation in the 2027 summit.
